Kitchen scale with a "tare" function, and ounce measure
8oz jar/container, with lid, for finished product
Ingredients
100gShea Butteror 3½ oz, by weight
35gCoconut Oilor 1¼ oz, by weight
2mlFragrance Oil Or Essential Oilapproximate, see notes
Instructions
Weigh the Ingredients
Turn on your scale and set it to ounces. Place your mixing bowl on the scale and use the tare function to zero it out.
Add 100 g Shea Butter to the bowl, then zero out (tare) the scale again.
Add35 g Coconut Oil
Remove the bowl from the scale and add 2 ml Fragrance Oil Or Essential Oil (optional).
Whip the Mixture
Using a mixer, start beating the shea butter and coconut oil on low speed.
Gradually increase the speed and beat the mixture for about 10 minutes, scraping down the sides with a spatula every couple of minutes to ensure all ingredients are fully incorporated.
Continue mixing until the body butter becomes light, fluffy, and has approximately doubled in volume.
Store the Body Butter
Use a spatula or spoon to transfer the finished body butter into a clean container.
Cover the container and label it as desired.
Your homemade body butter is now ready to use! Enjoy smooth, moisturized skin!
Notes
Because this product doesn't include any water based ingredients, a preservative isn't needed. Use only dry, clean hands to scoop product out of the jar, to avoid introducing bacteria. Please be cautious regarding fragrance oils and essential oils. Natural doesn't automatically mean safe. Look for information on supplier's website about if a product is body safe (many are only safe for things like candles) and the proper amount to use, often given as an amount or weight percentage of essential/fragrance oil to other ingredients.
