Last year, we were hot, dry, and smoky, and fires were everywhere. This year is a 180° difference with fun things, like near freezing temperatures 2 weeks after the last frost date, and rain that comes just enough to make mud everywhere, but not enough to stop having to water the garden.
Thank you, to the dogs, for that 2am wake up!
The weather has the garden and greenhouse struggling to do much, but some things, like the potatoes, are showing promising growth. On the other side of that, we are re-seeding the cucumbers this weekend as not enough have survived this weather, even in the greenhouse.
The chickens are awesome. They’re all healthy and growing so fast, and we still enjoy just stopping to watch them.
One of our favourites is the 3 black ones with their iridescent green plumage, it’s so pretty! Out of the 3, one might be a rooster but I’m certain the other 2 are hens with very small and pale combs and waddles.
That’s about it for this week, here’s hoping for better weather so I can keep up on the weeds without having to play in the mud!
